Endangered African Antelopes, The Fastest Impalas and the Largest Oryx

Endangered African Antelopes, The Fastest Impalas and the Largest Oryx

These graceful antelopes are known for their incredible
speed and agility.  They are a vital part of the African
ecosystem, providing food for predators and helping
to maintain the balance of nature.

Antelope is a mammal species.  There are always thousands of these antelope sin Africa than in any other part of the world. As a matter of fact, the antelope do  resemble cow dog and sheep. All antelopes belong to  the even-toed species of ruminant mammals, which are herbivores. There are no better movies and videos about antelopes than the ones taken on an African safari.

Many a times you will always see a cheetah chasing an antelope or a gazelle a long the African savannah and the American plains they are  plenty of antelopes   which make up  from  over 90 species. Many of the antelopes from different parts of Africa and the world at large may vary in appearance from each other . habitat strategy and range. A group of Antelopes can be referred to as a 'herd'.

Facts About Antelope

Kingdom: Animalia

Phylum: Chordata

Order: Artiodactyla
Family: Bovidae
Genus: About 30 genera
Species: About 90
Weight: 589kg
Length: 150 cm
Top Speed: 43mph

Eland

Just like the antelope, the eland on the other hand is one of the largest African antelope in the African content The eland is about 600kg  and has a height of 1.8 meters. Just as the antelopes of the African Savannah lands the eland is also found in many parts of e central, east and southern parts of Africa, coastal plains, mountain areas and  semi deserts regions. With many of the antelope species and mainly the eland, this animal is already considered an endangered. People in different parts of the eland natural habitat have  been hunting the eland for its meat and for the skin as well. Despite many efforts to help quell the problem, poaching is one aspect which has no borders as may of these elands just cross national boundaries only to be victims of animal attacks and poaching there laws are not enforces.

Kudu

There is no animal as beautiful as far as the impala species are concerned. The kudu being a  sub-species of African antelopes consists of mainly  two subspecies. There are  two different kinds of  kudus the smaller kudus and the bigger kudus which are loved for their beautiful colors. In Africa and some of the many beautiful animals along the African Savannah you find that  kudus are found in East Africa, Kenya, Uganda, Burundi and Tanzania  in protected national reserves and national parks as well. As far as the weight of the kudu is concerned, Kudus generally weigh abut  52kg to 60kg. The male African kudus are larger than the females African kudus. The bigger kudus are characterized by their massively prominent long horns which are borne by the males.  Kudus  are the largest  of all species of antelope which  can grow  to  around  2m in length.

Impala- ( Aepyceros melampus)

impala is a species of antelope family very beautiful magnificent, elegant , vulnerable  and harmless when you  stair at them. It is mainly characterized by its amazing leaping abilities. A male impala averagely weighs 45 - 76 kg, while a female, 30 - 50 kg. The impala creatures can be commonly found in places ranging from southern Africa especially in Kurgan Park in south Africa  to the northern limits of East Africa in Masai Mara park, Amboseli park and many other parks in East Africa.

Gerenuk-

Gerenuk.  have a long neck, they don’t need water for survival as the plants they eat contain water which keeps them  going and this amazing antelopes are found in eastern region of Africa especially in arid and semi arid areas.

Nyala(Tragelaphus angasii)

Nyala are another subspecies of antelopes the  colour resemblance is different from each other The male antelope is dark brown with vertical white stripes running on its masculine  body, while the female is of the color of  red rustish, marked with clear striping their so shyness makes them to  hide in water holes places

The Largest Oryx: The gemsbok, oryx gazella, is the
largest of the oryx species. It is a powerful and majestic
animal, and it is well adapted to life in the
harsh desert environment.

 Oryx
The Oryx (Oryx gazelle) is one of the large species of African antelopes and most dangerous  due to its sharp lethal horns  which  kills their prey  by protecting themselves or their young ones , they are mainly known for killing lions ,their habitat is in the desert areas  where  they survive without water for a long time  they are  also known as the sabre antelope

The Amazing African Leopards: Kings of the African Acacia Trees

The Amazing African Leopards Kings of the African Acacia Trees

Leopards
Beautiful amazing baby leopard perched on tree
Leopards are the best tree climbers
amongst big cats and are capable of taking
prey that is twice their body weight, up a tree

The leopard, just as the African lion is one of the most dangerous animals in the world. In Africa the leopard has killed many unsuspecting people just as the lion in the hay days of the Lions at Tsavo and as far as its prey is concerned, the leopard is an animal not to joke around with when you are in its natural habitat and ready to defend its territory. Leopards  as beautiful and colorful as they are and as dangerous as they can be are also known as panthera pardus. The leopard as a matter of fact are the smallest from the big cat family felidae of the three family of the Asian  tigers, the American jaguars and the African lions.

Its amazing to see the leopards in their natural habitat not just as one of the Big Five or from the Big Cats  As a matter of  fact, leopards are part of the cat family just like the lions, the cheetahs and tigers, Felidae and as far as the leopard's name is concerned, the scientific name for a leopard is Panthera pardus while in Kiswahili the leopard is known as "Chui"

You might be amazed to see how many people like leopards. There are a great number of people who have been able to take amazing photographs of leopards and great leopard videos as well due to the fact that the leopard color of  cream and gold spotted fur is just one color which has suited the leopard to survive in the wilderness and to be able to evade its predators as well.

With many species of leopards in the wild and in the wilderness, these beautiful leopards also come in different shades of color as well. Some leopards depending on the region they are coming from have  black fur with dark spots. The Black or clouded leopards are often mistaken for panthers. Survival for the fittest is always part of the leopards strategy due to the different environmental conditions, breeding grounds and feeding grounds. All adult leopards when they reach  the age of maturity become solitary animals.

The animal bond which had been bringing them together slowly fades away as the young or adult leopards start to look for their own feeding and breeding grounds as well and where to love. Despite the fact that leopards share parts of their territory even when they are old, they try to avoid one another and confrontations which are always very catastrophic and fatal. Animals fighting for territory are always very dangerous and aggressive. Many animals kill one another while many animals are wounded and become helpless and end up being eaten by other animals as well as their survival chances become to low and most of them end up dying because of their wounds and die because of infection.

Leopards are the best tree climbers amongst big cats and are capable of taking prey that is
twice their body weight, up a tree.

When you see a leopard in the wild, you will know that this animal is just the perfect animal whose body is built for hunting. In many of the leopard movies or leopard documentaries you will see that leopards are very sleek. The leopards have very powerful bodies as compared to the cheetahs and can run faster as well reaching speeds of  up to 57 kilometers per hour. With plenty or prey in the African Savannah to feast on the leopard hardly runs fast as in each and every part of the wilderness there is always a heard of unsuspecting animals which require less effort for the leopard to kill.

While hunting in the dead of the night, leopards can follow their prey even in the deep waters. The amazing fact about leopards is that as good runners as they are, leopards are also very good  swimmers. Leopards can climb trees to hide their prey to feast on it when it is hungry and while chasing its prey, it can outrun it by leaping and jumping long distances with ease.

This is just one of the amazing fact that leopards have been part oh the big five group because of these very important qualities with it at hand. With one of the greatest weapon in terms of chasing its prey, blessed with a long tail almost as long as its body, the leopard uses its tail to help it with balancing. The long tail makes the leopard be able to make sharp turns quickly.

Leopards are some of the most cleverest animals in the cat family. With the power to climb trees with ease after a hunt, leopards protect their food after eating it and what remains the leopard will hide its carcass  from other animals by dragging it high up into the trees.

This ensures that the leopard food will be secured unless the African vultures and other tree climbing animals dare to come by and try to steel it. Many of these beautiful dangerous animals will often leave their prey up in the tree for days and return only when they are hungry!  As far as the leopard breeding is concerned, when a leopard is ready to give birth, the female leopards give birth to a little of two or three cubs at a time.

The female leopards always protects its young cubs and weans them until they are big enough. Its at this moment that the female leopard also trains them how to play and a few survival tricks and how to socialize. By the time a cub is two years old it will leave the company of its mother and live on their own.

The leopard mating rituals just like any other big cats is almost the same. When the leopard cubs are grown enough  or if they are lucky to have survived the dangers of the jungles the female leopard will always be ready to mate and produce a new set of leopards to roam the land. The female leopard will l give a scent and rub her body on the trees to leave her smell there.

During the leopard mating season the strong males and the ones within the vicinity  either smell the females scent or hear her call to know that she is ready to mate. Its these leopard calls which sometimes create dangerous scenarios while in the wilderness. leopard fights are always inevitable in order to mate with females who are ready to breed.

While such sight is rare to see, not many people have been able to capture pictures of leopards mating. whether its because leopards are shy animals or when the leopards are the most secretive animals or whether leopards are just animals which keep to themselves is just a question which needs to be dealt with when you find yourself in the jungle during this season.

With the constant demise of the leopard natural habitat and breeding grounds, the leopard is one of the animals which is considered as an endangered species and the whole world all leopards have been put in the endangered species list.. Many leopards are killed each year for their fur and body parts and this is one reason why the leopard is an endangered animal.

While they were previously found in the wild in a number of areas around the world, their habitat is largely restricted to sub-Saharan Africa with small numbers also found in India, Pakistan, Malaysia, China and Indochina.  African used to have the biggest number of leopards but with the endless leopard hunting which ensued for decades left many of the leopards skins hanging on peoples walls and nothing for the  animals loving to see while out there on a safari.

With the increasing demand for leopard skin and may other  leopard body parts are just some of the reasons why the leopard has been hunted by poachers for many decades. Many people in the East have traditional beliefs  that the bones and whiskers of leopards can heal sick people.

With many of the wild animals of India considered sacred, many a times people have had leopard attacks which have been very fatal. People living in the leopard natural habitat always come in contact with the leopard during their movement in the forest. Some of the leopards just come out of their natural habitat as they wonder around looking for food and end up in contact with people and that's where the terror begins.

While in many countries where leopards are found has a way of compensating people for any leopard attacks or the property damaged, its the sheer fear of the leopard attack which will always linger in their minds knowing tis not safe and if leopards attack the only solution is to attack the leopard or just kill the leopard before any harm is done.

Amazing Dangerous Safari Ants of Africa Looking busy doing Something

Amazing Dangerous Safari Ants of Africa Looking busy doing Something

Ants are everywhere we live. You can have big ants, small ants, funny ants and pretty ants as well. Whether you are in the village or in the city life without ants is just inevitable. Ants have been here in this world and they will be part of us in our habitat and int heir own natural  habitat till the end of time. With different natural habitat, ants of different species and ants of different kinds are located everywhere and there are many kinds of ants which have yet to be classified or which have not yet been discovered.

These dangerous  Biting red ants, or "Siafu" in Kiswahili live in colonies and people who move in any of the ants natural habitat have to be on the lookout for the siafu or safari ants this is because you might find a colony of safari ants in one location while in the nest few hours the safari ants are nowhere to be see. just because while many ants have a permanent home, the safari ants are always on the move looking for more feeding and breeding grounds. These ants hunt at night when the sun has gone down and many a times hide in a hole in the ground or in a tree during the day away from other ant predators as well which makes them vulnerable.

Ants or siafu are at home in Africa. in the gardens or in the forest, siafu or safari ants are just part of their nature in their natural habitat.  Safari ants like any other ants are just as interesting in their nature, When you see safari ants moving in their convoy of thousands, these beautiful dangerous insects will not  hesitate to attack. Why are the ants called  safari ants?  is it because these ants travel in thousands carrying all what they have? Do these safari ants have any good story or bad story with the people on safari who had visited Africa for the sake of the African Safari as well. While there is little information about safari ants, these dangerous insects are not to be joked with. The safari ants can be as dangerous as any other biting insect. once these ants start biting, there is no turning back even if you turn your back on them.

Pinching ants are called "siafu" in Swahili, the trade language of East Africa. They are also sometimes called safari ants.

The pinching ants, sometimes erroneously called army ants, would come in columns maybe 12 inches wide and up to 200 feet long. When they reached a home, they would enter and swarm all over the inside of the house. They would eat everything in sight that moved. They ate very little of our regular food, but they would eat all mice, scorpions, spiders, etc. They would kill and eat dogs and cats if they were trapped in the house also.

From Starry Nights to Starry Seas: The Beauty of Our Universe

Stars and starfish do they really look alike? There are thousands of sea star species as there are stars in the sky.  Are there any similarities between the stars in the universe and the starfish deep in the oceans and beautiful beaches here on earth? Guess what; there are about 2,000 species of sea stars.  Do all stars have five sides? As far as star fish are concerned, it’s a fact that all sea stars do not have 5 arms.

The beautiful five-armed varieties of sea star are the most well known starfish to mankind and on the other hand the sun star for instance which is also a starfish or sea star has up to 40 arms.
While many people always wish for the star some people would like to see a starfish while having a good time on the beaches early in the morning just to make their day.

Starfish or Sea stars are Echinoderms.

Sea stars as many people call them just because they are found in the sea belong to the Phylum Echinodermata. As a matter of fact the starfish is related to sand dollar, the sea urchins and the sea cucumbers. The amazing facts about echinoderms is that all echinoderms have five-point radial symmetry. That’s why starfish also have five sections as far as their bodies are concerned which radiate from a central disk.

Cosmic Wonders: Discovering the Secrets of the Universe

As there are many stars in the universe, there are also a lot of starfish varieties or species as well. While the heavenly stars are huge in size and illuminate the earth with different radiant lights, the sea stars down hear on earth are as beautiful as your eyes can picture the starfish. While the deep oceans have a lot of beautiful animals, you find that there are many dangerous sea creatures which feed on starfish or one another while other animals or sea creatures depend on the sea weeds and plants which grow on the sea bed.

Sea stars protection mechanism

With over 2000 species of starfish in the world, different types of starfish have different body texture. Some starfish species have a skin which resembles leather to the touch and it may feel or slightly prickly. At the same time Sea stars protect themselves with their tough outer covering body on their upper side made up of calcium carbonate with tiny spines on their surface. With many predators lingering around ready to make a meal out of any unsuspecting starfish, the sea star's spines are used for protection from predators. Whether on the beach, deep in the water or just on the coastline starfish attacks are always common with birds, fish and sea otters.

Starfish and Stardust: A Celebration of Nature's Beauty

If you’re very keen and walk along the beaches in the early morning hours when the tide is low, you will be amazed to see sea stars or starfish of different sizes which have been washed by the dangerous currents. You will be amazed to know that starfish or sea stars are found almost everywhere there is an ocean. These beautiful star like fish common in intertidal zones. The shy sea stars or well accustomed to the deep sea or oceans are home to the deep waters. Both north and south in the tropical areas and in the world regions, these are also home to the starfish and you fill find that starfish come in different sizes despite their different natural habitat. Starfish of different colors you can ever imagine. With the abundance of starfish or sea star species, these beautiful animals came in different shapes and sizes and what is common about all sea stars or starfish is that they all resemble a star.

Starfish Secrets: Uncovering the Mysteries of These Enigmatic Creatures

Are starfish really dangerous? Can starfish really bite someone? Unless you venture out in the sea star world then can you only experience things like that first hand? While may people have little or no information about starfish, it’s always difficult to know the kinds of starfish found in a particular habitat or beaches around them. There are many amazing facts about star fish. Sea stars or starfish as far as biology is concerned it says that starfish are not fish.

Despite the fact that sea stars live underwater and are commonly called "starfish," they are not fish as many people will have thought. The fact about starfish is that these sea stars have no gills, scales, or fins. At the same time starfish to not have tails and their movement is not as the same like many fish do

Starfish and Stardust: A Celebration of Nature's Beauty

Imagine your hands touching a starfish. Most starfish as cool and gentle as they can be are always smooth. The sea stars are generally covered with somehow spines not as sharp as the ones of a hedgehog but dangerous enough to make you scream when you step on one accidentally. Remember these sea creatures can be as elusive as any other creeping and crawling animal in the world. The starfish with a blessing of different colors can blend with their natural surroundings and hide from their enemies or other fish or creatures of prey. While as long as the starfish are in water, their lower side is always soft as they have all their tinny little limbs to walk with and to grab food with while moving around. These tinny starfish legs are as hard working to make sure the mouth is fed for as long as there is movement in the water.

The starfish with many legs but not strong enough to run away from its natural predators, the starfish when in danger would protect itself from its enemies by slowly hiding in any nearby rock in the seabed. The starfish also finds refuge in cracks of the corals along the rocky beaches and lives one day at a time. Not many animals have the capability of losing a limb and yet live to let it grow another day. Just like a lizard which loses its tail when it has been caught and leaves it jumping wriggling here and there, the starfish has the same mechanism of losing one of its limbs or arms. One of the stars or limb of the starfish will break and this helps the starfish to dig dip in the sand or gives it time to hide in the crevices. How soft is a starfish? This is one of the most asked questions about starfish. If a starfish can break its limb, this just goes one way to show how amazing starfish are given their brittle way of life in the deep and shallow treacherous waters we cherish while on the beach.

Under the Sea and Above the Sky: A Journey Through Starfish and Stars

The main organs of Sea stars are located in their arms. With many wonders of nature some of the starfish can even regenerate an entirely new sea star from just one arm and a portion of the star's central disc and take almost a year for the starfish’s arm to grow back.
As creatures of the sea, survival for the fittest is the game of the day in the sea world . Having to detect and spot your enemy is of great essence as well. Its amazing to note that these beautiful Sea stars have eyes just like the creatures of the deep see. With a very simple eye located at every end of each arm, the starfish eye is not as powerful as it should be. The sea stars can sense light and darkness which could just be enough to make it escape from its prey.

While many of the sea creatures have blood Sea stars do not have blood which proves that they are not fish as people would have thought. When starfish are attacked, they secrete the internal fluid in their water vascular system, in which the sea star pumps sea water through its sieve plate, or madreporite, into its tube feet to extend them just like a jellyfish does with all its tentacles which make it be able to move around even sometimes against the ocean currents. With miniature hundreds of feet, the starfish uses this tube like feet to move around by sucking water and sieving it thereby giving it a thrust while it’s taking the water out. At the same time the sea star's tube feet also help the sea star hold its prey, which includes bivalves like clams and mussels.

Sea Stars and Shooting Stars: An Unforgettable Adventure

Sea stars eat with their stomachs inside-out.

Speaking of prey, sea stars have a rather unique way of eating theirs. A sea star's mouth is on its underside. They prey on bivalves like mussels and clams, as well as small fish, snails, and barnacles. If you've ever tried to pry the shell of a clam or mussel open, you know how difficult it is. Sea stars wrap their arms around the animal's shell and pull it open just enough. And then it does something we could never imagine - it pushes its stomach through its mouth and into the bivalve's shell. It then digests the animal and slides its stomach back into its own body. This unique feeding mechanism allows the sea star to eat larger prey than it would otherwise be able to fit into its tiny mouth.

What are Animal rights? Do animals really have rights? Do animals know that they also have animal rights as well?  Unless we change our thinking and realize the need to do something about it just as people have human rights and are aware of their rights as human beings and are protected by the laws of the land, only a civil society is in a position to cherish the beauty of nature and all that is within it including all the plants and animals which need to be take care of as they are part of us. Having animals rights or giving rights to animals is just one way of giving protection to animals which can be provided by man, rescuing animals as the sole duty of the people whenever they are in need provided there are recourses and treating animals with care as they would have cared for one another in a family.

Love animals and grant animal rights.

While a lot of animal cruelty, animal testing, animal rescue, animal abuse and animal protection   around the world has lead to the phenomenon of animal liberation or animal rights, very few people are aware that animals also have rights. While the common man might not be aware of his rights, it becomes difficult as to whether one can digest the fact that the animals he breeds or takes care of also have rights as well. If there is love and passion for animals in the hearts of people, granting animal rights is as easy accepting these beautiful animals as part of their lives.

Wild at Heart: Discovering the Beauty and Importance of All Animals

There is nothing part of this earth as beautiful as the animals we have in this beautiful world.
With the beautiful environment which we share, man has been able to tame the most dangerous animal and has managed to benefit as well from these animals both domestic animals and wild animals as well. Way back in the primitive age, man used to gather whatever fruits he could find as he gradually shifted his desire with the abundance of wild animals which could cloth him, provide shelter and fill his hunger.

With the rapid industrialization, the need for raw material lead to the scramble for Africa and with the abundance of natural resources and wild animals, the carnage continued with the modern sophisticated weapons. With the increase in world population and many mouths to feed, both wild animals and domestic animals have not been spared in terms of the way they need to be treated despite the hue and cry from many international bodies to stop the carnage in many parts of the world.

From Elephants to Meerkats: The Many Wonders of African Wildlife

From the time this world came into being, people and animals have co existed and animals have been on the spearhead to maintain the equilibrium in this world. We have been lending a blind eye to many of the animal disasters taking place in our environment and all the animal breeding grounds and natural habitat for both wild animals is just not enough for them to be able to roam freely as they used to do hence their survival assures our survival as well. With the ever changing weather conditions, many animals have been displcased and keep on being displaced.

With little humanitarian work going on after every natural disaster, many animal lives are lost and while some are rendered homeless for the rest of their lives due to the change in their geographical area, there is always little for these beautiful animals to look forward to. With little food and water from their new habitat, many animals become victims of animal attacks and hence pose a threat to the peace loving citizens who mean no harm but with little information about animals and how to take care of animals, these animals with their natural animal instincts could attack when they feel threatened and hence became victims or animal attacks themselves.

Love All Animals: The Secret to Saving the Beautiful Wild

Animals have families and show their family and love to their offspring’s as well. Wild animals and domestic animals are social as we are. With advance in communication language and ESP, there are just other things regarding social life which we humans are yet to digest in our heads.  With a lot of intelligence with their natural animal instincts, they are just part of this world which we learn to associate with as we grow up just as they also socialize and blend within their environment and natural surroundings as well.

Join the Love All Animals Movement and Save Our Planet's Biodiversity

When people are happy, we have our own way of showing our affection and our pleasure with our satisfaction as well as portraying all our emotions. The elephants are known to grieve whenever one of their elephants is dead or they come across an elephant grave. That’s just one way of how animals show their emotions and their contribution to this wonderful mother earth. These beautiful animals have rights as we do, there is not a single moment in ones life who has not adored an animal whether it was an animal video, an animal picture or just an animal story.

With all the information and education which has been communicated to mankind about animal care and how we should treat and react to animals, one would wonder as to who is responsible in taking care of these pets, dangerous animals and domestic animals as a whole. Should we treat them with a utility mind for those who are breeding them in order to feed the endless stomachs of human beings or should there be a smooth process in how animals should be treated?

The Wild Side: Discovering the Beauty and Importance of African Animals

With no yardstick to pinpoint where we need to start or to help alleviate many of the animal suffering and discomfort both in their natural habitat, in captivity or while being breed for our consumption, it is therefore our responsibility to make sure that no one takes away the rights of these beautiful animals which are part of this earth’s heritage. While there are accepted given standards on how animals should be handled, whether being transported from one point to another whether they are in a market for sale or are just being enclosed in their pens, the rule and care of such animals should be of good ethical value and with no sheer negligence on the part of the animal owner.

With modern means of transport and communication, man has ventured into the unknown and his lust has triggered him to exploit all avenues his hunger could take him.

Animals both on land and in the deep see have been hunted not because they are there to feed the billions of people but just because they are part of a delicacy, a culture or for medicinal value where as there are substitutes for all those precious animals which are almost on the verge of extinct or are already becoming endangered.

The Power of Love: Why Loving All Animals Is Essential for Our Planet's Future

These animals should not be exploited for their flesh, for their fur or just for there elegant skin. While many people are entertained by the tamed animals in circuses, there is always a lot which goes on in the minds of these animals while being trained. Little is known as to how the carrot and stick theory is used in order to make these animals reach the act of perfection as they are put on hard conditions and made to perform acts or rituals just to benefit the few who have gathered to enjoy the show. While the list of animals care and treatment is till on the lime light, much unnecessary research on animals is just one way of making these animals miserable and with little benefits as far as many of the animal species are concerned.

We should be kind and loving to animals at home in the streets, in the parks and in any environment where these animals have made their home. With the depletion of our worlds natural resources, the world is looking for other sources of energy to help quell the energy crisis. As far as the animal kingdom is concerned, when all the animals are wiped out from the planet, there will ne nothing left for other alternatives. Plastic or robots in the form of animals will not be able to give the joy and the comfort people cherish while in the company of these innocent looking God given beautiful animals. Any goodness or kindness that we show or give to these animals of hours will just be a milestone in extending these animal rights to these wildlife and by showing a relationship of kindness, our new generation will just follow suit in making a better place for these kind animals
